BEADED COASTER AND BRACELET

INSTRUCTIONS

BEADED COASTER

Cut a good length of thread, approx 40 cm. Place four beads into the centre of the thread. Take one end of the thread and reverse-pass it through the last bead. Pull firmly to create a small diamond shape.

Place a bead on each thread. Take another bead and reverse-pass both ends of the threads through. Pull firmly, you will see your row of beads begin to grow. Repeat until your first row of beads measures approx 7-8 beads in length.

Once you have completed your first row, place 3 beads onto the thread resting on the left hand side. Reverse pass the thread resting on the right through the last bead. Pull firmly.

This is how you 'turn a corner'. Place 3 beads onto the thread resting on the left hand side. Reverse pass the thread resting on the right through the last bead. Pull firmly.

Take the thread closest to the row of beads (on the left hand side of the last bead) and pass it through the second last bead from the previous row. Pull firmly.

Place 2 beads on the right hand thread. Reverse pass the thread resting on the left through the last bead. Pull firmly.

Continue to grow your coaster until it measures 7-8 beads in length and diameter, or until its the desired size. Finish off your coaster by beading until the end of the last row and tie a strong double knot either side of the last bead. To hide the straggling lengths of thread, simply weave these through the adjacent beads and trim.

BEADED BRACELET

If you are looking for a simpler, faster similar project, why dont you make a fun bracelet. Simply follow steps 1 to 3. Once your bracelet is the desired length, reverse pass both thread ends through the first bead. Tie off the threads and hide the straggling lengths of thread by weaving these through the adjacent beads and trim with sharp scissors.
