MACRAME RAINBOW KIDS WALL HANGING

Macrame Rainbow Kids Wall Hanging Project

LEVEL: EASY

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 1 x Roll of Semco Recycled OR Crafters Choice Green Label Macrame Cord in White, Denim, Aqua, Jade, Sage, Yellow, Grey, Natural and Pink
  • CraftSmart Dowel
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Tape Measure
  • Rubber Bands

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Cut 24 x 150cm lengths in White and attach to the dowel using a lark head knot, you may want to cut the dowel to suit
  2. Cut 1 length in each of the colours at 1500cm, in order to make the cord easier to work with you can secure the bulk of the length with rubber bands, you can release length as required
  3. Beginning with the Denim, on the left side of the work, allow about 10cm at the end and secure with a vertical clove hitch knot around two of the white cords, move onto the next two sets of cords securing with a vertical clove hitch knot (total 3)
  4. Using the Aqua length similarly to Step 3 allow about 10cm at the end and secure with the next 3 sets of white cords with vertical clove hitch knots. Repeat until you reach the end of the work using Jade, Sage, Yellow, Grey, Natural and Pink lengths in that order
  5. You will now work from right to left, starting with the pink, work 3 sets of white cords with vertical clove hitch knots, once at the end twist this around the Natural colour, this will secure the colour knots together and continue working vertical clove hitch knots with the Natural colour. Repeat this step with the other colours until you reach the end of the row
  6. Working from left to right, work 3 set or vertical clove hitch knots with each of the colours
  7. Repeat step 5 and 6 until the work measures approx. 28cm from the bottom of the dowel to the end of your work. NOTE: you may need to add an additional row of half clove knots in order to ensure your work is straight. As this is a recycled product some cord may be slightly thicker than others
  8. You will continue to repeat Step 5 and 6 but will drop off clove hitch knots from the end to taper to a point in the centre
  9. Adjust knots as desired, cut off excess coloured lengths and secure ends with hot glue
  10. Trim the ends of the white lengths and fray as desired
