INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Cut WCs and attach as per Step 2 in this order, 4x6m, 6x7m, 4x6m, 50x5m, 4x6m, 6x7m, 4x6m.

Step 2: Attach WCs to rod, using a LH knot. 156 WC in total.

Step 3: Work 3 Rows of alternating SKs across the width, where the 1st and 3rd row use all WCs and the 2nd, skips 2 WC at the beginning and the end.

Step 4: Cut a length of cord 160cms wide (MC), and clip to support the cord to sit just below last row of SKs. Work a row of HDHHR knots across the work, AT THE SAME TIME, to prevent too much bulk, work every 3rd knot as a single half hitch.

Step 5: Neaten the ends of this additional MC, weaving into the back, craft glue can also be used.

We will work in panels - there are 2 long panels on outer sides and 4 in the middle, with 5 thin connecting panels that emerge as the work progresses.

Left Outer Panel

Step 6: Skip first 2 cords, measure down 3cms, and make 7 SKs with next 28 WCs.

Step 7: Measure down 3cms, and make 7 SKs with 28 WCs.

Repeat last 2 steps. (4 rows of spaced alternating SKs in all)

Step 8: Cut a length of cord 40cms (MC), and clip to support the cord to sit 3cms below last row of SK. Work a row of HDHHR knots with the first 28 WCs, AT THE SAME TIME, to prevent too much bulk, work every 3rd knot as a single. Neaten ends as per step 5.

Step 9: Cross over WC 14 and 15 and lay at a 45 degree angle, these will become FCs. Working from right to left, work DDHHL with cords 13 to 1. Then work DDHHR with WCs 16 to 28.

Step 10: Measure down 5cms from the inverted point and work 1 SK with the middle 4 WC of this panel.

Step 11: Work 2 SK below this knot, with the middle 8 WCs.

Step 12: Skip 8 WCs and work 1 SK, then skip the middle 4 WC, work 1 SK. The horizontal middle of this row needs to be level with the last DDHH from step 9.

Step 13: Repeat Step 11, then work an addition SK below with middle 4 cords to complete the inner diamonds.

Step 14: Using the 1st WC lay diagonally across the work to sit 5cms below last SK, work DDHHR with next 13 WCs.

Step 15: Using WC 28 as an FC, lay from right to left to meet the point and work DDHHL with cords 27 to 15. Work an additional DDHHR with previous FC and this FC, to complete point of outer Diamond.

Step 16: Measure down 4cms and work a SK with the WCs 13 to 16, continue to make a full diamond in Alternating SKs, by adding 2 WCs to each side until all 28 WCs are worked. Then reduce the number back to just 1 SK is worked with he middle cords.

Step 17: Measure down 4cms and repeat Steps 9 to 15.

RIGHT OUTER PANEL

Step 19: Measure down 4.5cms from the inverted point and work 1 SK with the middle 4 WC of this panel.

Step 20: Work 2 SK below this knot, with the middle 8 WCs. The horizontal middle of this row needs to be level with the last DDHH from step 18.

Step 21: Work 1 more SK with middle 4 cords to complete the inner diamond.

Step 22: Using the 1st cord lay diagonally across the work to sit 4.5cms below last SK, work DDHHR with next 11 cords.
