BRIGHTON PRINTS WALL HANGING
Level: Easy
What you'll need:
- '4 Seasons' Brighton Cotton Blend Prints 8 ply 50g x 3 balls.
- 4mm crochet hook or size required to give correct tension
- Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure
- Approx 40cm long rod or stick

Width (approx) 31cm
Tension
Correct tension is not essential for this item.
Note
The scale rows are worked 'upside down' on the RS, by inserting the hook between the 2 trebles from the front, around and behind the designated stitch to the front again, pulling a loop around the stitch and finishing the treble in the usual manner. Only work on the WS when you are instructed to turn in the previous row.
INSTRUCTIONS
Using 4mm hook, make a magic ring.
1st row - 3ch (counts as 1tr throughout), 4tr in ring, 1ch, 5tr in ring, do not join to 3ch at beg, pull ring tight, do not turn ... 1 scale.
Work along the straight edge of the scale (side edge of first and last trs), - 2nd row - 3ch, 1tr around post of last tr of previous row, 1ch, 2tr in centre (magic ring) of scale, 1ch,1tr around post of first tr from previous row, 1tr in 3rd of 3ch at beg ... 6tr and 2 x 1ch sps.
Scale row - 3rd row - 3ch, 4tr around last tr of previous row (working down from top to bottom of tr), 1ch, 5tr around next tr (working up from bottom to top of tr), miss (1ch, 2tr and 1ch), 5tr down (as before) around next tr, 1ch, 5tr up (as before) around next tr ... 2 scales.
4th row - 3ch, 1tr around post of last tr of previous row, 1ch, 2tr in centre of scale, 1ch, 2tr between scales and 2tr of 2 rows below, 1ch, 2tr in centre of scale, 1ch, 1tr around post of first tr of previous row, 1tr in 3rd of 3ch of scale ... 10tr and 4 x 1ch sps.
Scale row - 5th row - 3ch, 4tr down (as before) around last tr of previous row, 1ch, 5tr up (as before) around next tr, * miss (1ch, 2tr and 1ch), 5tr down (as before) around next tr, 1ch, 5tr up (as before) around next tr, rep from * to end ... 3 scales.
6th row - 3ch, 1tr around post of last tr of previous row, 1ch, 2tr in centre of scale, * 1ch, 2tr between scales and 2tr of 2 rows below, 1ch, 2tr in centre of scale, rep from * to last tr of last scale, 1ch, 1tr around first tr of previous row, 1tr in 3rd of 3ch of scale.
Rows 5 and 6 incl form first patt. Rep these two rows until 12 scales are made, ending with a 5th row.
24th row - 4ch (counts as 1tr, 1ch), 2tr in centre of scale, *1ch, 2tr between scales and 2tr of 2 rows below, 1ch, 2tr in centre of scale, rep from * to last scale, 1ch, 1tr in 3rd of 3ch of scale, turn.
25th row - 4ch, * 2tr between next 2tr, 1ch, rep from * to last st, 1tr in 3rd of 4ch at beg, turn.
26th row - Rep 25th row, do not turn.
Scale row - 27th row - Miss first tr and 1ch, * 5tr down around next tr, 1ch, 5tr up around next tr, miss (1ch, 2tr and 1ch), rep from * across, miss 1ch, sl st into 3rd of 4ch at beg ... 12 scales.
Rows 24 - 27 form second patt.
Rep these 4 rows twice more.
36th row - 15ch, * (2tr in centre of scale, 1ch, 2tr between scales and 2tr of 2 rows below, 1ch) twice, 2tr in centre of scale, 1ch, (1tr, 12ch, 1tr) between scales and 2tr of 2 rows below, rep from * twice more, (2tr in centre of scale, 1ch, 2tr between scales and 2tr of 2 rows below, 1ch) twice, 2tr in centre of scale, 15ch, sl st into 3rd of 3ch of scale. Fasten off.
FRINGE
Cut yarn into 30cm lengths. Using 5 lengths tog, use hook to pull centre of these grouped lengths of yarn through the 1ch sp at the tip of each edge scale (except those on the vertical edges), and pass all ends through the resulting loop, pull tightly.
FINISHING
DO NOT PRESS. Thread the rod through the hanging loops on top of work. Using doubled yarn, make a crocheted chain cord to attach to the rod for hanging.
