Rainbow Fleece Cushion Project

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Tension

Correct tension is not essential for this project.

INSTRUCTIONS

Draught the template out to scale on craft paper then cut out the half circles for each colour.

Cut out 2 each of the half circles in the relevant colour sequence adding 1cm seam allowance around the pattern pieces:

  • 30cm wide Purple x 2
  • 40cm wide Blue x 2
  • 50cm wide Green x 2
  • 60cm wide Yellow x 2
  • 70cm wide Orange x 2
  • 80cm wide Red x 2

FRONT AND BACK

Starting from the middle of the cushion, pin and sew the bottom of the Blue half circle to the top of the Purple half circle, clip the seams and press flat.

Repeat by joining the bottom of the Green half circle to the top of the Blue half circle, clip and press open.

Continue in this manner in this sequence: Purple, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red.

Gussets

Cut a rectangle 140cm x 5cm plus 1cm seam allowance around all edges in Red Polar Fleece.

Hold the rainbows right sides together and pin then sew the gusset around the top of the both the red half circles of the rainbows,
leaving a 1cm gap at the base of the cushion. Clip and press.

Cut a rectangle 30cm x 5cm plus 1cm seam allowance around all edges in Purple Polar Fleece and repeat as the Red gusset, this time joining the 2 Purple half circles together at the bottom of the cushion. Clip the seams.


FINISHING

Cut 2 rectangles 30cm x 5cm plus 1cm seam allowance around all edges in Purple Polar Fleece, these are for the bases of the
rainbow cushion. Pin onto each base and sew pivoting at each corner leaving enough gap in one base to insert the Hobby fill. Turn to the right side, stuff the cushion and hand sew the gap.
