Koosh Granny Square Jacket Project

LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 100 gram 2 Balls each 'Moda Vera" Koosh x 6 colours, (Col1, Col2, Col3, Col4, Col5, Col 6)
  • 3.5mm crochet hook (Small to Medium size)
  • 4.00mm crochet hook (Large size)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Tape measure

FINISHED SIZE

Small to Medium: Bust = 92cm, length = 53cm, sleeve length = 38cm

Large: Bust = 100cm, length = 56cm, sleeve length = 42cm

TENSION

Finished Granny Square 8.5cm x 8.5cms using a 3.5mm hook. 9.5 x 9.5cms using a 4mm crochet hook.

Granny Square Full Pattern Only

Foundation Ch: Make a sl knot and work 1ch.

Rnd 1(RS): 3ch (counts as 1st tr), 2tr in 4th ch from hook, (2ch, 3tr in same ch) 3 times, 2ch, sl st into 3nd ch of 3-ch. Bind off.

Rnd 2: Draw a lp with new colour in last 2 ch-sp of rnd 1, 3ch, (counts as 1st tr), 2tr in same ch-sp, 1ch, (3tr 2ch 3tr) in next 2 ch-sp, repeat from twice more. 1ch, 3tr in next 2 ch-sp (beginning of round) 2ch, sl st into 3nd ch of 3-ch. Bind off.

Rnd 3: Draw a lp with new colour in last 2 ch-sp of rnd 2, 3ch, (counts as 1st tr), 2tr in same ch-sp, 1ch, 3tr in next 1 ch-sp, 1ch (3tr 2ch 3tr) in next 2 ch-sp, repeat from twice more. 1ch, 3tr in next 1 ch-sp, 1ch, 3tr in next 2 ch-sp (beginning of round) 2ch, sl st into 3nd ch of 3-ch. Granny Square Half Pattern Only

Foundation Ch: Make a sl knot and work 5ch.

Rnd 1(RS): 3tr in 5th ch from hook, 2ch, 3tr in same ch, 2ch, 1tr in same same. Bind off.

Rnd 2: Draw a lp with new colour in first 5 ch-sp of rnd 1, 5ch, 3tr in same ch-sp, 1ch, (3tr, 2ch, 3tr) in next 2 ch-sp, 1ch, 3tr in next 2ch-sp, 2ch, 1tr in same ch-sp. Bind off.

Using the Harlequin Grid below, sew the squares together using and overstitch catching the back loops off each square together, using thread to match one of the sides sewn.

Fold the front sides over to the back to form the shoulders and sew. Ends can be woven in to keep work clean for the next step.

Sleeves

Seam along the outer Rnd only, of the lower triangle under the arm.

Using Col 1 draw a lp at the under arm on one side of an armhole. This will be in a a ch-sp( or 2ch 1 tr sp).

Rnd 1: 3ch(counts as 1st tr) 2tr in same ch-sp, 1ch. sk next ch-sp 3tr in next ch-sp, sk centre ring, 1ch, 3tr in next cp, sk next ch sp, 1ch, 3tr in next ch-sp, sk next ch-sp, 1ch, 3tr in point of the diamond in between, sk next ch-sp, 1ch, 3tr in next ch-sp, repeat from this is the centre shoulder point, 10 groups of 3tr, mirror this on the other side of the armhole opening to end with 19 sets of 3tr, 1ch sl st in 3rd chain of ch3 at the beginning of the rnd.

Rnd 2: Turn, sl st into last ch-sp, turn, 3ch(counts as 1st tr), 2tr in same ch-sp, 1ch, 3tr in next ch-sp, repeat from to end of round. 1ch sl st in 3rd chain of ch3 at the beginning of the rnd.

Rnd 3: Sl st into 2nd tr, sl st into next ch-sp, 3ch(counts as 1st tr), 2tr in same ch-sp, 1ch, 3tr in next ch-sp, repeat from to end of round. 1ch, 1ch sl st in 3rd chain of ch3 at the beginning of the rnd. Bind off colour.

Pattern is now established. Work in rounds adding new colour by drawing up a thread in the underarm ch-sp.

Note: addition rows can be added to extend the sleeve to desired length.

Edging

With Col 1, draw up a lp at last bind off stitch. 1ch, 1dc in each stitch around sleeve. Sl st in ch at the start of the round. Work 2 more rows of double crochet.

Edging

With Col 1, draw up a lp in the centre point of the left-hand front hem line. 1ch, 2dc same sp. Working the hemline, work 3 dc in each 5ch-sp(or 2ch 1tr sp) and 1dc in the centre of a triangle, work 2dc at the end of the hem(last st), then 2dc on the front edge(first st), continue to work dcs in the triangles as per the hem, then in each st of the side edge of the diamond. Continue around the opening, ending with 2dc at the lower right front edge. Sl st in the ch at the beginning of the round.

Work 2 more rnds of dc, shaping corners by adding 2 extra dc, on lower right-angle points of the hem, then 2 dc at the centre front point, then skipping a stitch on the inverted points on the centre front and 2 at the back neckline. Bind off.

Finishing

Ties - Make 2

Measure off 4.5mts of Col 1, fold yarn in half forming a slip knot in the centre, using 2 strands held together work 80ch. Bind off leaving 10cm.

Attached to the centre front on each side of the point. Secure firmly 1 on each side and weave in loose end.

Weave in remaining loose ends.
