  • Moda Vera Fair Isle 100g - 5, 6, 6, 7 balls
  • 1 pair each of 3.25mm, 4.00mm and a set of 3.25mm knitting needles or size required for correct tension
  • 2 stitch holders, scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

TENSION

22 sts x 30 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 4.00mm needles.

INSTRUCTIONS

WOMEN'S JUMPER

BACK

Using 3.25mm needles, cast on 111 (121-133-143) sts.

1st row (RS) - K2, P1, K1, rep from to last st, K1.

2nd row - K1, P1, K1, rep from to end.

Last 2 rows form rib.

Rep last 2 rows 10 times, (22 rows rib in all).

Change to 4.00mm needles.

Working in stocking st for rem, cont until work measures 39cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.

Tie a marker at each end of last row to indicate armholes, as there is no armhole shaping.

Cont in stocking st until work measures 59 (60-61-62) cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.

Shape Shoulders

Cast off 9 (10-11-12) sts at beg of next 6 rows, then 8 (9-11-12) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.

Leave rem 41 (43-45-47) sts on a stitch holder for neckband.

FRONT

Work as given for Back until there are 18 (20-22-24) rows less than back to beg of shoulder shaping, working last row on wrong side.

Beg Neck Shaping

Next row - K43 (48-53-58), turn.

Cont on these 43 (48-53-58) sts for left side of front neck shaping.

Dec one st at neck edge in every row until 39 (44-49-54), sts rem, then in every foll alt row until 36 (40-46-50), sts rem, then in every foll 4th row until 35 (39-44-48) sts rem.

Work 3 rows.

Shape Shoulder

Cast off 9 (10-11-12) sts at beg of next and foll 2 alt rows.

Work 1 row.

Cast off rem 8 (9-11-12) sts.

Slip next 25 (25-27-27), sts onto a stitch holder and leave for neck band.

With right side facing, join yarn to rem 43 (48-53-58) sts and knit to end.

Keeping patt correct, cont on these 43 (48-53-58) sts for right side of front neck shaping.

Dec one st at neck edge in every row until 39 (44-49-54), sts rem, then in every foll alt row until 36 (40-46-50), sts rem, then in every foll 4th row until 35 (39-44-48) sts rem.

Work 4 rows.

Shape Shoulder -

Cast off 9 (10-11-12) sts at beg of next and foll 2 alt rows.

Work 1 row.

Cast off rem 8 (9-11-12) sts.

SLEEVES

Using 3.25mm needles, cast on 45 (47-49-51) sts.

Work 22 rows rib as given for Back.

Change to 4.00mm needles.

Working in stocking st, inc one st at each end of next row then in every foll 4th row until there are 57 (63-75-79) sts, then in every foll 6th row until there are 81 (85-91-95) sts.

Cont in stocking st, without further inc until work measures 44 (45-46-47) cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.

Shape Top

Cast off 10 (10-11-12) sts at beg of next 4 rows, then 10 (11-12-11) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.

Cast off rem 21 (23-23-25) sts.

NECKBAND

We recommend using mattress st to sew up you garment. Join shoulder seams. With RS facing, using a set of 3.25mm needles, and beg at left shoulder seam, knit up 20 (22-24-26) sts evenly along left front neck shaping, knit across 25 (25-27-27) sts from front neck stitch holder, inc 2 sts evenly across, knit up 20 (22-24-26) sts along right front neck shaping, then knit across 41 (43-45-47) sts from back neck stitch holder, inc 4 sts evenly across ... 112 (118-126-132) sts.

1st round - K1, P1 rep from to end.

Rep last round 15 times.

Cast off very loosely in rib.

FINISHING

Placing centre of sleeve to shoulder seam, sew in sleeves evenly between markers. Join side and sleeve seams. Sew in ends.




MEN'S JUMPER

BACK

Using 3.25mm needles, cast on 127 (139-149-161) sts.

1st row (RS) - K2, P1, K1, rep from to last st, K1.

2nd row - K1, P1, K1, rep from to end.

Last 2 rows form rib.

Rep last 2 rows 7 times, (16 rows rib in all).

Change to 4.00mm needles.

Working in stocking st for rem, cont until work measures 46cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.

Tie a marker at each end of last row to indicate armholes, as there is no armhole shaping.

Cont in stocking st until work measures 67 (68-69-70) cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.

Shape Shoulders

Cast off 10 (12-13-14) sts at beg of next 6 rows, then 12 (11-12-14) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.

Leave rem 43 (45-47-49) sts on a stitch holder for neckband.

FRONT

Work as given for Back until there are 20 (22-24-26) rows less than back to beg of shoulder shaping, working last row on wrong side.

Beg Neck Shaping

Next row - K52 (58-62-68), turn.

Cont on these 52 (58-62-68) sts for left side of front neck shaping.

Dec one st at neck edge in every row until 46 (52-58-62) sts rem, then in every foll alt row until 43 (48-53-58), sts rem, then in every foll 4th row until 42 (47-51-56) sts rem.

Work 3 (3-1-3) rows.

Shape Shoulder

Cast off 10 (12-13-14) sts at beg of next and foll 2 alt rows.

Work 1 row.

Cast off rem 12 (11-12-14) sts.

Slip next 23 (23-25-25), sts onto a stitch holder and leave for neck band.

With right side facing, join yarn to rem 52 (58-62-68) sts and knit to end.

Keeping patt correct, cont on these 52 (58-62-68) sts for right side of front neck shaping.

Dec one st at neck edge in every row until 46 (52-58-62), sts rem, then in every foll alt row until 43 (48-53-58), sts rem, then in every foll 4th row until 42 (47-51-56) sts rem.

Work 4 (4-2-4) rows.

Shape Shoulder -

Cast off 10 (11-13-14) sts at beg of next and foll 2 alt rows.

Work 1 row.

Cast off rem 11 (12-11-12) sts.

SLEEVES

Using 3.25mm needles, cast on 53 (55-57-59) sts.

Work 16 rows rib as given for back.

Change to 4.00mm needles.

Working in stocking st for rem, inc one st at each end of next row, then in every foll 4th row until there are 57 (61-65-73) sts, then in every foll 6th row until there are 89 (93-97-101) sts.

Cont without further inc until work measures 47 (48-49-50) cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.

Shape Top

Cast off 11 (12-12-13) sts at beg of next 4 rows, then 12 (11-13-12) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.

Cast off rem 21 (23-23-25) sts.

NECKBAND

Using mattress st, join shoulder seams. With RS facing, using a set of 3.25mm needles, and beg at left shoulder seam, knit up 20 (22-24-26) sts evenly along left front neck shaping, knit across 23 (23-25-25) sts from front neck stitch holder, inc 2 sts evenly across, knit up 20 (22-24-26) sts along right front neck shaping, then knit across 43 (45-47-49) sts from back neck stitch holder, inc 4 sts evenly across ... 112 (118-126-132) sts.

1st round - K1, P1 rep from to end.

Rep last round 20 times.

Cast off very loosely in rib.

FINISHING

Placing centre of sleeve to shoulder seam, sew in sleeves evenly between markers. Join side and sleeve seams. Fold neckband in half and sew down. Sew in ends.
