How do I choose the best glue for my craft?

Well, that does depend on your project and what you plan on sticking! However, if you are not quite sure which of our glues would be right for the task, then check out our handy guide below.
Fabric: The most effective glue for fabric is a fabric glue, as this has been purposely designed for this medium. You could also use a hot glue gun or a PVA glue, but it would depend on whether you plan on putting the item in the washing machine or not. You should also avoid any glues that contain cyanoacrylate, such as superglue, as this can result in a chemical reaction between the fabric and the glue.
Glass: Gluing glass can be a challenge, as it is important that the adhesive that you chose is sturdy and able to carry weight. The most effective glue for glass is one that has been designed purposely for it. However, you could also use a hot glue gun or superglue.
Metal: When you are gluing metal, it is important to ensure that the surface has been properly cleaned and does not have any dust or dirt on it. To stick metal, you will need a heavy duty glue such as super glue, or a silicone adhesive. Paper: When crafting with paper, it is usually best to choose a glue that is both think and quick drying, and either PVA glue or glue sticks would be an excellent choice.
Plastic: Plastic can be difficult to glue, and it is quite a fiddly process The most effective glue for this medium is hot glue, using a glue gun. However, it is important to remember that these can get very hot. Choose one that has a lower temperature, or use a small amount of superglue. If you are still finding it a challenge to stick plastic, particularly when trying to glue it to other plastics, you could also rough up the surface a little using fine sandpaper.
Styrofoam: Ensuring that you do not corrode the foam is most important, and PVA glue or craft glue is usually the best option. Smooth down the foam before you begin using fine sandpaper, and remember do not use any hot glue or heat on this material as it will cause it to corrode.
Wood: When you are sticking glue, it is important to choose one that is sturdy and long-lasting. Also consider where you will be placing your wooden project, and whether the glue needs to be waterproof. Purposely designed wood glue would be a great choice. However, you can also use super glue or a waterproof PVA glue.

Is there anything else I need to remember?

We always like to remind customers to check the individual manufacturer's instructions that come with each product, particularly with regards to safety. If you are doing crafts with children, it is important that you choose our options for them, as these are safe and non-toxic. Superglue, hot glue guns, and many other adhesives are not suitable for use with children. Never leave glue unattended and always ensure that you are using these in a well-ventilated area and that it is stored out of the reach of children and pets.
