First Responders Day

Spotlight is proud of our medical and emergency workers who have worked tirelessly throughout the COVID pandemic to help our communities.

To help show our appreciation, we are pleased to be part of First Responders Day – an initiative designed to thank those on the front line throughout the COVID pandemic.

All first Responders can come in to any Spotlight store Australia wide and receive an additional 5% their transaction.

What is First Responders Day?

The event will run for 1 day only – Thursday 25^th June - and will allow First Responders to receive an additional 5% off current ticketed prices in-store.

First Responders include:

• Doctors
• Nurses
• Paramedics and Ambulance Staff
• Policemen and women

We’re also extending the offer to our amazing Aussie firefighters as an acknowledgement of their work during the Australian Bushfires.

I’m a First Responder, how can I participate?

Simply head into your local Spotlight Store and identify yourself through either a photo ID or uniform when shopping in-store to receive your discount at checkout – that’s it!

Spotlight Stores will be offering an additional 5% off current ticketed prices (excluding clearance and advertised lines) to First Responders (as specified below).

About the Event

1. What is First Responders Day?

   First Responders Day recognises the courage, commitment and contribution of our first responders during COVID-19 by offering a special discount to these workers at all participating Australian retailers. It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’ for these outstanding efforts, on behalf of Australian retailers and all Australians.

   This event is part of a broader Retail Recovery campaign supported by Australian Retailers Association, which combines the promotion and advertising resources of leading Australian media and social media channels. 

2. When is First Responders Day?

   Thursday 25 June 2020.

   Thursday is Australia’s only consistent late-night shopping day, allowing First Responders who work shifts the opportunity to shop.

3. Who is behind the event?

   First Responders Day is an initiative of Australian Retailers Association in partnership with its members and strategic partners.

4. What is the proposition/offer?

   Each participating store is offering a special discount to all First Responders on the day. These offers will vary from store to store. You can check the details on the website of each participating store.

5. Define a first responder

   First responders include: medical and health workers including doctors, nurses, paramedics and ambulance staff, policemen and women. 

   Whilst the focus of the campaign is on health and medical workers, we are also extending the offer to firefighters, as an acknowledgement of their work during the Australian Bushfires. There are approximately 750,000 workers estimated to be within those categories within Australia.

6. How will customers know what the deals are and which stores are participating?

   Visit the website or social media channels of your favourite stores to find out more about the discounts.

7. Is there a website?

   We have created a special landing page for First Responders Day - please visit the ARA website and click through to First Responders Day.

8. How will stores manage social distancing if this event attracts large crowds?

   There are social distancing measures in place within all stores already. We encourage everyone to abide by the existing rules.  We have selected a day which has extended trading hours and the retail wide nature of this promotion should ensure there is adequate space and time for everyone to participate.

9. Will the retail offer be available online?

   This is primarily an in-store event to encourage our first responders to connect with the retail industry so we can say ‘Thank you” for your efforts during the COVID19 crisis.
