Make Your Modelling Even Better with the Modelling Supplies at Spotlight!

Creating models is becoming increasingly more popular in Australia, not only for children, but also for adults. At Spotlight, customers can find affordable modelling supplies, so you can build your kits with the utmost confidence and a full wallet. Taking your first steps in model building and want to learn more? Find out by reading the information provided by Spotlight below.

What Do I Need to Build My First Model?

Before you can build a model, you will need a kit that contains the parts of your model. These kits are widely available in Australia and can be made in the likeness of many different things.

At Spotlight, you can also find the model kits you will need to build your first model. Available models at Spotlight includes a helicopter model, palace model, car model, and much more.

Before you start building your first model, it is a good idea to buy one of the more affordable models. Remember, your first model will not go perfectly, so it is best to keep the more expensive models for when you have a little more experience.

In addition to the model kit, you will need some good modelling glue. Even though most kits contain glue already, there is more glue available that could prove a little easier to handle when building your model.

Where Can I Find the Instructions for Model Building?

When you buy a model kit from any store, it usually contains the instructions on how to build a model. Since a kit contains various parts, you will need to follow the instructions to make the replica perfectly.

Before you start building your kit after unpacking your instructions, it is always recommended to read through the instructions carefully first. Make sure all the parts are present in your kit, but also identify the different parts you will need to build your model.

What Is the Best Way to Remove the Parts from Their Setting?

Model parts are usually attached to a special setting in your model kit; this prevents smaller parts from getting lost in the box. However, this is also where many people make a common mistake, since many people break the parts from the setting.

Breaking the parts off could cause damage to the little parts of your model, so we certainly do not recommend it. Instead, you should always cut the parts from the setting instead. Of course, this is easier said than done, since these parts usually have a strong connection to the setting.

To make your life a little easier, you could get a special side cutter from Spotlight; this enables you to easily cut the parts from the setting. There are also stronger scissors you can obtain for model building, which could also make it a little easier to remove small parts from the setting.

What Additional Supplies Do I Need for Model Building?

We already covered the essentials, but there are some extra things that you could obtain for model building. One of these things is some masking tape, which could keep your model together when the glue is drying.

In addition to masking tape, we also recommend some paint for your model. Some models already come with colours and decals, but the more complex kits will recommend painting the model yourself. Naturally, this provides you with a lot more freedom and fun! So, be sure to check out our paints too when you want to be fully prepared for your first model building experience!
