When Should I Use Cotton To Make Bedding?

Cotton is one of the most popular materials for bedding. It has lot of beneficial properties that most crafters look for, this includes breathability, durability, and even easy maintenance. That being said, it is possible that you will encounter various types of cotton fabrics. To ensure you know the difference, there are some of the most notable options.

Egyptian cotton - If you are going for the most luxurious option out there, then Egyptian cotton is your prime choice. Of course, this option should only be used by experienced sewers, as this is an expensive and rare material.

Cotton jersey - This material is not woven, contrary to most fabrics you will use for bedding. Instead, cotton jersey is a knitted fabric that is known for its supreme softness, even if you are on a budget.

Flannel - Crafters will only use flannel when they need something soft and warm. In colder climates, flannel bedding is an absolute must, especially considering the superior warmth it provides. Bamboo has increased in popularity in recent years, but this is a fabric that is often misunderstood. To make fabric from bamboo, the pulp must go through a special chemical process. Once the pulp has been dissolved and then solidified again, it can be spun into a yarn.

Even though it is not as known worldwide as cotton or polyester, bamboo fabrics do have benefits. They are soft and silky against the skin, and just as breathable as regular cotton fabrics. Bamboo fabrics also tend to be durable, which means your bedding will last longer.

Which Additional Fabrics Can Be Used For Bedding?
